ALORIS CADRILLE

Aloris Sedai's Character Summary
The reserved and secretive First Counselor of the Blue Ajah, Aloris Cadrille’s position is one of the most closely held secrets in the White Tower. Long regarded as one of the most esteemed sisters of the White Tower, she has never held a public position of authority, but still has mastery of Whiter Tower politics, despite her near-cloistered existence.

Born to Cairhienin merchants in the town of Selean, along the Silk Path, nearly one hundred and seventy years ago, Aloris was generally assumed, by the Tower at large, to be a rather unexceptional sister, although albeit a very intelligent one. The exact timing of her installation as First Counselor is unknown, but believed to be within the last ten years, judging from an unusual increase in coded correspondence among the sisters of the Blue, and numerous “informal gatherings,” all of which seem to have been precipitated by the death of Sheralle Almazar, an extremely elderly Blue, thought to lead the Blue Ajah after the politically motivated dismissal of Valia Corgarin by the old Amyrlin, Elsbedhe Bodwell.

Over the decades, Aloris has chosen numerous Tower students to be her protégés, including Lewella Brehon, Tiaza Rosoinde and currently an Accepted, Asellia Salengari, and is noted for her ability to discern worthy and credentialed recruits for the Blue from among the Accepted. It should be noted, though, that her most favored protégé, Eilande Fioneiven, spurned the Blue, and Aloris personally on the eve of her raising, defecting to the Red Ajah, adding enormously to the strife between the two Ajahs. She is publically distant from the Sitters for the Blue, Perseinde Apeneos, Esmaya Corrantes and Sielle Goravina, and also maintains a publicly hostile posture with Dianys Mathenos.

Aloris a is suitable effective speaker, yet only moderately strong in the Power, and has still managed to attain respect and stature through long years of wise counsel and initiative. She was one warder, Keiven Magard, an Amadician warrior trained in the Warder’s Academy.

Aloris Sedai's Character Description
A small, one might say dainty woman, with blazing blue eyes rare for a Cairhienin woman, and a sharp nose, Aloris reminds one of a particularly intent sparhawk, and her severe hairstyle only accentuates her avian appearance, long shining silver hair tightly pulled back in a neat braided coil, artfully sprayed with a set of dazzlingly cut sapphires, all in all drawing attention to her high cheekbones. Not a beautiful woman, her ageless complexion bears antique scars from some childhood pox. Aloris still manages to demand attention, radiating command and implacable will. Dressed in a high-necked gown of midnight blue satin, trimmed at the collar with frothy Bevaire lace, and worked in golden whorls and spirals along the shoulders and collar, and in triangular sections, spaced around the wide skirts, she might be mistaken for a high noblewoman, but for the timeless look in her uncreased face, naming her Aes Sedai. She wears deep indigo amethysts in a snug necklace, and more at her ears, and her Great Serpent ring shines on her narrow hand. A long pelisse of dark grey wool hangs over her gown from her shoulders, lined with silky black sables.

Students and Associates of Aloris Sedai
  • Asellia Salengari
The volatile daughter of an Ebou Dari shipowner, Asellia Salengari is the defiant leader of her own clique of novices, despite the efforts of the Mistress of Novices to disperse them. Asellia is expected to develop a fair amount of strength in the One Power, but many sisters despair of teaching her the proper comportment of an Aes Sedai. Aloris Cadrille has taken in an interest in her training as a novice, perhaps in recognition of her nascent leadership abilities.

  • Deylin Nianche
A serenely aloof Tairen Blue, Deylin Nianche is one of Aloris’ closest advisors, having been taken into her inner circle of advisors many decades ago. It is oft speculated that Aloris has been grooming her to replace her, should anything befall her, for all that such talk is deeply guarded amongst the Blue Ajah. Deylin Sedai was once the advisor to Queen Malenroe I, of Andor, long ago, and is believed to have tugged the strings of many of the houses of Andor to affect the resolution of the most recent Andoran Succession.

  • Lewella Brehon
An Andoran Blue, Lewella Brehon is a close associate of Dianys Mathenos, and is believed to be her right-arm woman, so to say. Lewella Sedai is a genial woman, who quickly puts people at ease with her warm, maternal style. Lewella is one of Aloris’ oldest protégés, is many of the Blues snipe, covertly, that she was ‘attached’ to Dianys by Aloris to keep tabs on her. Lewella Sedai has one warder, Jayme Corindeos, a spectacularly handsome Illianer swordsman.

  • Masiro Ragun
A aged, esteemed Brown sister, Masiro Ragun is of an age as Aloris, as well as the Amyrlin Seat, for all three were novices and Accepted together, long ago. Masiro Sedai, born a Kandori seamstress’s daughter, is believed to sit high on the Brown’s internal council, and is known to have easy access to the Mother, and is not above bringing Aloris into her confidence. Masiro Sedai, unusual for a Brown, has a keen interest in international affairs, for all that she claims only a “scholarly” interest.

  • Tiaza Rosoinde
Imposing and attractive, with fierce black eyes and long red hair, Tiaza Rosoinde is a Saldaean lord’s granddaughter, for all that such lofty origins are ignored by the Tower. Tiaza is a newly raised Blue, and has been taken under wing by Aloris Sedai, acting as her amanuensis and secretary. It is believed that Aloris uses Tiaza as an inlet into the mood and temperament among the younger sisters. Tiaza is notorious as a prankster, and her mischievous nature impeded her progress as an Accepted.
